Laguna Honda Hospital Replacement Hospital and Rehabilitation Center

San Francisco, California

Laguna Honda Hospital originally opened in the 1860s as an alms house for the poor and is now one of the country’s most advanced long-term care hospitals for seniors and adults with disabilities. This massive hospital replacement project included the addition of three new buildings, totaling 500,000 SF, and the renovation of one existing building, totaling 150,000 SF.

The facilities accommodate 750 inpatient beds that are broken out into smaller “pods”, each consisting of 15 residents in private and semi-private rooms. The skilled nursing facility includes units for chronic care, dementia, psycho-social, AIDS/HIV, rehabilitation, total care, hospice, and restorative care.
