The three-story Health Sciences Building houses a multitude of healthcare-related educational programs – including emergency medical technician (EMT), pharmacy technology, physical and occupational studies, nursing and medical assistant – all supported through general classrooms, simulation spaces and support spaces, including a library, offices, computer labs, study areas and meeting rooms.
Students will have the opportunity to practice real-world healthcare scenarios by interacting with legitimate medical equipment in simulated spaces that are equipped to mirror typical healthcare settings: a fully functioning ambulance simulator with high-tech mannequins in the EMT program, an IV prep and anteroom outfitted with a fume hood plus inpatient and outpatient pharmacy counters, a clean room and storage in the pharmacy technology lab, washers, dryers, kitchen sinks and ceiling-hung swings to simulate reacclimating to home life in the physical and occupational studies lab, and 20 hospital-grade patient beds with headwalls, exam rooms and front office space in the medical assistant lab.
Four nursing simulation labs, including one NICU, are equipped with high-tech mannequins, cameras/video displays to simulate medical scenarios, control rooms, and observation/debrief rooms for educators to observe and provide feedback to students.
